Who has lived here:
-
The
house was built by Gates Strawn, the son of cattle baron Jacob Strawn.
-
Although
he received a law degree, Gates never practiced law since he did not have to
earn his living.
-
He spent his life
traveling and pursuing his special interest in art and did not build
the house until he was 68 years old.
-
While local
builder Joseph DeGoveia was building the house, Mr. Strawn rented a house
across the street so he could personally supervise the building of his new
home.
