Who has lived here: 

  • Helen Ayers Bullard had the house built for herself and her two children shortly after she was widowed. 

  • She was interested in making it the best she could afford, and purchased the lot next to the Governor Duncan mansion. 

  • She also traveled to Chicago to find her architect, Howard Van Doren Shaw, who was very highly regarded.
