The ISD Media Center houses the James T. Moore Library, a student computer lab, media work areas for staff and students, an after-school study center, a conference room, a meeting room, and a large gathering space. The open layout of the Media Center provides a deaf-friendly atmosphere for communication.
A variety of outreach materials and services developed specifically for families, service agencies, and programs that serve individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing in Illinois are available from the ISD Media Center. A large collection of print and non-print resources and a professional staff are available to teachers and other interested individuals who work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Deaf awareness materials are available upon request and the outreach videos produced in the 1980s are being replaced with DVDs that showcase ISD activities and projects. Staff present workshops and information in instructional design and use of computer software, video, and other media. Outreach videos, which teach sign language or tell stories in sign language, are available through a videotape exchange program and these videotapes are currently under revision. In addition, curricula that have been developed at ISD are available on this website and are grouped by subject area. All curricula are aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards. http://www.isbe.net/ils/
