ISD Business Education Partnership:
ISD actively seeks partnerships with businesses to enhance the school's K-12 School-to-Work program. In 1995, Nestle USA established a Business-Education Partnership with ISD. The program includes activities such as pen-friends, student of the month, after-school activities, entrepreneur and reading programs, field trips, and a book fair as a fund raiser. ISD staff host weekly sign language classes for Nestle USA employees at the plant. The Nestle USA-ISD Partnership received an exemplary award from the Illinois State Board of Education in January of 1997. Only 20 exemplary awards were given throughout the state of Illinois. This partnership and those with other businesses in Jacksonville are responsible for the success of our students in the School-to-Work program.
